My goals for use are very simple:

1. MS Word
2. browsing, email
3, Dreamweaver
4. Playing back 720p video or standard video on external TV via HDMI
5. Photo storage device in the field

These are all that I require of the unit. So far I have lined up the Acer AS1410
with ULV su3500 core 2 solo, 2GB of ram and 250 GB hard drive. It has the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD, HDMI out and 11.6 inch screen for $399. Ships with Vixta but whatever. The SU3500 seems to be by far the best processor of my three choices, but I'm not sure of the grahpics.

The next netbook would be the HP 311 mini which comes with the weak Atom 270 but the very nice Nvidia Ion LE. Ram is 1GB amd 160-gb HD, Win XP. 11.6 inch screen with HDMI out. I understand that the gfx on this one are quite good and it can handle exporting HD to external TV via HDMI.

The last netbook I am looking at is the new Dell Inspiron 11z with the Celeron 743 ULV processor. This is between the Atom and the SU3500 in power. The graphics chip with this one is the Intel® GS45 Integrated Graphics, WLAN which I have no idea about. It comes with 11.6 inch screen, 2gb, 160gb hard drive, Win Vista and HDMI out. This unit is priced nicely at $349.

Thanks for any tips at all.

Thx. I saw that and was going to jump on it but I really want to leave it at the $399 price point because the unit will be used out in bad waether conditions for photo work. That is a great deal though!
