Was installing new fans, when i plugged everything back up I get a long beep, and then 3 short beeps and it wont get to BIOS. What d\oes a long beep followed by 3 short beeps mean?

I double checked and found no power to my floppy drive. Hitting F-1 allows me to override this command. Is there anyway to disable the floppy entirely?

Sure. Shut down and disconnect the floppy and power connects.

You can then leave the floppy sitting there to fill the hole if you like.

You may also disable in bios.

gl :)

Ok. I appreciate the help.

I'll be posting pics of the results of my dremmling soon.

Anything can be disabled if you snip enough wires ;)

Your BIOS options might include "Boot up floppy seek" or "FDD Controller" I'd set those to disable anyways, working or not. Floppys are a waste (IMO) of space, money and power.

However, unplugging it accomplishes the same task.

until you have to install raid drivers or recover data from a friend/relative's disk, or use a school computer that has it's USB ports locked down, and then use the same crappy floppy at home to get the data you were working on at school.

Personally I agree with you in every way about floppies, but many people still have to use them, and will for at least a few more years.
