Poor DVD playback

I'm about to watched Children of Men but I noticed the vidoe is rather grainy and pixelated. I am watching it on a Samsung 226BW 22" LCD and using an eVGA 7800GT. I also have PureVideo with it and running it on Windows Media Player 11.

Any ways of improving it?
 
No, the video is being upscaled so it is going to look like crap no matter what you do. You need to either watch HD-DVD movies or Blu-ray movies for no pixelation on that resolution.

you're taking a 720x480 resolution source and blowing it up to ~1680x1050. You will see the results of that on screen.
 
I finished the movie and I cried so many times in it. Sad movie and I hate the ending even though it's perfect.

thanks for the help on the stuff, i guess some things can't get better
