Sorry for the quick and stupid question, but I have a buddy willing to give me 2x 19" monitors that in portrait I believe are the right size to pair with a Dell 30" 16:10 U3011 in landscape size wise.

Its on an older rig I setup for my parents that has two 6850s in crossfire, and occasionally my nephew games on it.

Just curious if AMD ever fixed the drivers so that it will allow for portrait+landscape+portrait without hacks which was insanely stupid, because back in the day it would not.

If the resolution matters, its 2560x1600 I think, and the 19"ers are lowly 1280x1024 Dell P190Ss (old tech, but literally sealed new in box for free).

Nope. as far I know PLP only work actually with the R9 285.

did they even ever promise to make it work on older cards?

nop.. they said they was working to bring some of those new features VSR and so on, to HD7000 and newer cards (or GCN 1.0 and newer). but PLP only for GCN 1.3 so R9 285 only and as said above presumably for 300 series.
