I've got a wireless adapter on my desktop and the wireless router is in the next room. Internet works great, but I get lots of choke (30-50) making the game unplayable. Is there any way to fix this or am I forced to string an ethernet cable over to the router?

One thing to check with your wireless connection is signal strength and the SNR. This may be the cause of the stuttering. Although I would recommend running cable.

When you said WAN you meant WLAN, right?

WAN isn't a wireless network. It's Wide Area Network - usually the Internet - and has been in use since at least the 70s.

Is gaming over wireless possible? Yes. But, as you've noticed, it caries a heavy latency cost, and I wouldn't reccomend it at all.
