i using onboard but by the end of this month i plan on getting a gtx 280, i choose that because its an nvidia card honestly. what about you?

I have SLI GTX 280s, and love them. I got one on launch and decided about a week ago that a second one would be nice. :)

I have a 1GB 8600GT, woohoo, I pwn teh world!!!!1111!

:p

but seriously, I'm considering these 3 cards...

all prices are after MIR...

1. the Sapphire 4850 and OCZ DDR2 6400 combo in the [H]ot Deals...$155...
2. Zotac 512MB 8800GTS...$125-$130...
3. the eVGA 8800GT with the single slot cooler...$130...

leaning towards getting the extra memory in the combo because ya never know when you may need an extra 2GBs...

Recently traded 4870 for GTX 280...

ati radeon 8500 AGP.

The 8500 kicked ass :D The 64mb version was the 4850 of the day, beating GF3's and equaling some GF4's for half the price. Not many people remember how great this card was since the 9700 Pro launched shortly afterwards and blew everything else away.

Before buying Sapphire you might want to read up about them.
Their behaviour hasnt been so savoury towards customers with problem cards.

2x 7900 GTO's (SLI'd of course)

Just waiting for the 4870 x2 to come out

Still using a 640MB 8800 GTS here. I plan to upgrade when the Radeon 4870 X2 arrives, or see if the GT200b refresh is any good.

thanks for the heads up, gonna check some more customer reviews and maybe more seriously consider the 8800GTS...

I'd get a 4850 from elsewhere rather than a GTS. Its well worth the price difference and then some, especially if you want to use better AA modes.
Maybe start a thread asking for best place to buy a 4850 from?

8400GS since I won't be gaming until end of this year.

Before that (until Dec 07) I paired my laptops Radeon 9000 with a 24".

It looked a little crazy (and runs WC3 at native resolution just fine! Max detail to boot):

Heh, an 8600gt in my Q6600 system, and a 7300gt in my amd rig. I should point out I barely ever game now, so I don't really need anything much more than that for now.

whaddaya talkin' about? they cheated Quake to get pass gf3 and equaling what? gf4mx? sure, but not at half price.

In other news, there was a poll asking the general public to fill in their salary brackets:
-10 million+
-5 million to 10 million
-2 million to 5 million
-1 million to 2 million
-500 000 to 1 million

GTX280... though I might return it and save the funds and snag up a 4870 since I don't game a huge amount.... what do you guys think??

Had a 4870 (two times!) and returned that hot muthaforga; Plus ATidiots drive me crazy.

*** Lovin' my GTX 280!

do it.
You'll be much happier in the long run.

Hell, if you really don't game much, you might consider a 4850 to get you by.

Runing a vanilla GTX 260 at the moment. Will be stepping up to a GTX 280 within 65 days.

It's possible that the 55 nm refresh could be available by the end of that timeframe, too. :)

8800GTX SLI....
looking at some 260's or 280's soon....probably gonna dump SLI altogether as I don't really utilize it

Just sold my 8800GTX SLI setup and went with a single 4870, but will probably be taking it back in the next week or 2.

I think I will either go with the Diamond 4870 Black Edition or with an EVGA/BFG GTX 260 (cheapest one available) with the hopes of stepping up to something much better in the fall.

traded in my 9800GTX for a yet-to-arrive gtx260 for evga's step-up. voted 260 but currently using a Radeon x700! ouch!

With current figures for the new cards:
260 - 6.36%
280 - 10.91%
4800 series - 23.64%

NVidias latest cards are used by 17.27%, ATI's latest are used by 23.64%
At this point thats 36% more ATI cards.
It will be interesting to see if that is maintained.
