Thought I should post one of my real workstation now that we are in our new digs.

I work in a Regional Network Operations Center.

There are 9 40" LCDs on the front wall. My workstation has 6 20" LCDs

wow.. thats insane.. I would also like to know about getting into the field your in :p

Nah, you want to get into the stock market. Guys regularily have displays numbering into double figures there. I used to have a picture from a guy I knew who had 13x LCDs (this was back in the day, so they were only 15-17").

MurphysLaww's workstation looks like the sports book at any Vegas casino.

Here you go, gonna get rid of my 21" CRT soon and get a 24"+ tft, also gonna get a 150" Electronic drop down screen + projector to use as a TV etc (I'll post pics as soon as I get it) :D - sorry about the bad quality pics - used my broken digicam :p

Also need a new desk

MurphysLaww, Morpheus called, he needs you to open gate 6 in Zion :p

I checked, and I do not have visiblity to gate 6, only 10 and above. If you give me the MAC on his modem or MTA, though, I can make it do a back flip...

:D

seriously though, I started out pulling cable in commercial Inside plant locations, became a fiber terminator, then was contracted to Cisco Systems to train their DSL customers on system set-up, then went to Alcatel as a project manager, then a fiber to the curb cable/internet/phone company as a system tech, then came inside to the NOC.

If you're young, don't be afraid to start entry level, as you never know where you might end up. Just keep your eyes and ears open, learn everything you can, and opportunities will come.I also averaged a 20% increase in yearly earnings each year for about 6 years.

murphy..

any chance of getting some more pics with the lights on? of the entire room?
incredible setup!!

ive yet to go to college and im very interested in something with networks because id rather sit there and do something i love with opitunity than sit in a cubical doing something i hate. What do u fancy IT and network ppl go to college for?

actually, we drop out and then go back 10 years later.

I'm a junior currently in business school pursuing a BBA in Management.

I was an MIS major before I dropped out. I got pretty disillusioned about MIS because MIS at my school required almost as much programming as a CS degree does at most other schools. I'm not a big fan of programming (even though I'm in a VB.net class right now.)

Is that an LG Viewty? I've been looking at new phones and am currently interested in the LG Viewty, Nokia's N95, and maybe E-Ten's Glofish M800. But besides choosing a phone I'm unsure about switching carriers, currently I'm on Verizon but their CDMA network wont let me have any of the phones I've listed (and Verizon's expensive) so any suggestions would be great.

seraph_harim - I'm glad to see I'm not the only Marvel / Spidey fan on here :D

what is that small device on the LCD mount with the red LED?
and why is there a wire going into your vase?

what the hell is going on here?? ;)

nice setup btw.

I also would like to know what mount that is. I have a Samsung monitor that doesn't swivel like that and I would love to be able to turn it 90 degrees for when I am coding.

hey 1337*g0at, just out of curiosity, do mind me asking why there is a cable going into the top of the vase?

I have the HP w2207 monitor... it swivels 90 degrees as is (stock), but I didn't know it could accept a mount... standard VESA mount I guess... now I must investigate out of curiosity.

Oh and I think his vase is really not a vase... it's an electronically controlled cocoon sustaining some sort of alien life form. ;)

This was my workstation before.

And since my new monitor arrived today, here it is now, since I built my computer (first desktop in about 8 years)

I got some light filtering blinds I still need to install, and a g5 and g15 on the way. I'm getting a new desk, but I don't know which one to get. Ikea opens in less than 2 months in Cincinnati, so I'll probably just wait until then, unless I come across one I really like.

Not too much has changed that ppl will notice.

Theres 6 running computers at the desk if you can't tell. a USB Hub is hidden under the first shelf as is a charging station for, my cell , psp, Zen Vision M, Zen Stone.

The changes I made this year are the chair and the extinguisher is now mounted directly to the desk & to the way the upper shelves are organized.

my room does that too. aah, the price we pay.

last year in pretty much the coldest week our heater went out and the 3/5 coldest days the heater wouldnt even turn on, but thanks to my 2 pcs and my 360 and ps3 with the exhaust aimed at me i was fine while my parents froze downstairs, so having extra pcs does help at times but at other times makes it very hot.

i LOVE the M, i have it... its great. if creative could get it out there more, i think it would have a chance against the ipod

Cool desk you got there Qonfused.

I just bought an Onyx desk and the little hutch for it from Office Depot and I love how it looks with the HP w2207 and my other stuff... I gave the Jerker to my wife, then I realized something... she's supposed to be the one giving me a "jerker" I got jipped

I'll try to get some pics up when I can... all I got at the moment is my phone camera... it might do OK though.

Later.

Interesting setups. I really like the 7 computers and how clean that room is with that much equipment.
