I am wondering how do you hook these up exactly. They look like they use the HDD power cables but don't these newer cards need direct pci-e power cables. I don't think a HDD power cable could power a gtx 260
Generally it goes something like this: First make sure your PSU can handle the video card, look at the specs for your PSU and the vendors specs required for the GPU.
Your PSU has 2 PCI-e 6 pin connectors.
Your new card has one 6 pin slot and one 8 pin slot.
So you dont have an 8 pin.....what do you do......if the video card vendor is kind enough they sent you an adapter by which two 4 pin molex will be plugged into one edn and the 8 pin will be plugged into your brandee new videocard.
Same might be said if you had no 6 pins and needed two, you get the picture. The adapter draws enough juice from the two molex to provide the added power to the video card.
It works just fine. Just make sure the molex leads and the 6 pin lead are not on the same 12V line.
