1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
*** Everything, but primarily gaming and software development
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
*** Not a big deal, want quiet high performance pc.. $3000 total give or take.. as long as parts are reasonably priced
3) Where do you live?
*** Travel between Toronto + Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, whatever.
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
***
Already bought:
CPU -- Intel Core i7 2600K 3.4GHz 8M S1155
Videocard -- Asus GF GTX570 1.2GB GDDR5 PCI-E
PSU -- SILVERSTONE Strider Gold ST1000-G 1000W 80 PLUS GOLD Certified

Need to buy, and my current top choice:
Motherboard -- Asus P8P67 Deluxe R3 P67 S1155 ATX
Memory -- G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) F3-12800CL6D-4GBXH (qty=2)
Bluray/DVD -- SAMSUNG Black 12X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-ray Drive Model SH-B123L
Case -- ??? what do you suggest?
CPU Fan -- ??? what do you suggest?

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
*** no worries about the other stuff, already have ssd, hdd, monitor, etc.
6) Will you be overclocking?
*** maybe, but not at the cost of noise level. To me, quietness is more important than OCing.
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
*** Already have Dell U2711 (plan to always run at 2560x1440 with HW scaling if needed by certain games)
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
*** Now (still waiting on Asus p8p67 deluxe mobo, of course, lol)
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
*** Sticking with Asus P8P67 Deluxe, most likely.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
*** 64bit, win7+debian

My current case considerations
* Antec P183 V3 [http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129174] (seems to make most sense, quiet, affordable, and not to hideous)
* SILVERSTONE Fortress Series FT02B-W [http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163161] (seems quiet, kinda $$)
* other case that's mid-full, quiet, not too ugly?

My current CPU fan considerations
* COOLER MASTER V8 [http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103055]
* NH-C14 CPU Cooler [http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608020&Tpk=NH-C14] (too big? ram clearence issue?)
* NH-D14 [http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608018&T]
* Scythe MUGEN-2 SCMG-2000 [http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185093] (no longer sold?)
* Noctua NH-U12DX 1366 120mm SSO CPU Cooler [http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608012]
* other? looking for something quiet + won't interfere with ram clearence

My Comments/Thoughts
* Really looking to have this thing be as quiet/silent as possible without compromising too much
* For RAM, I got 2 qty of the 4GB(2x2GB) Ripjaws X due to 6-8-6-24 timing. I also considered 2 qty of 8GB ripjaws, but it had higher 8-8-8-24 CAS. I feel that 8GB will be enough for now, and saves me $150. I'm unsure as to how significant CAS timing is.
* First time trying G.Skill, not a lot of info on the F3-12800CL6D-4GBXH. Hoping it's reliable :)
* I'll SLI with another GTX570 in the future, as an upgrade, .. maybe.
* Would like to OC to ~4.x GHz, seems like above setup should be able to do so.

Curious what are your thoughts on current memory, case, cpu fan considerations? Looking for any kind of recommendation/criticism for above system :)

Thanks for reading!!

My rig is pretty much completely quiet, it's in my sig. I replaced the two fans on my Corsair H70 with Noctua NF-P12s and I run them on the lowest setting. I would imagine the Antec case has even less noise since it has sound-proofing on the panels.

The NH-C14 should clear your ram.

I would definitely go for a 3GB GTX580 or 6990 if you're going to blow three grand. I don't think my computer was even three grand. I'm also from Toronto.

Luckily for you, this case is only available in Canada:
$135 - Fractal Design Define R3 SE White ATX Case (Fill in the ++++ with "N C I X" without the spaces)

It's just as quiet as the Antec P183 yet is significantly cheaper.

I recommend this HSF:
$30 - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus HSF for LGA 1366 and LGA 1156

You won't notice an iota of difference between 6-8-6-24 and 8-8-8-24. Nor will you notice a difference between DDR3 1333 and DDR3 1600 RAM. With the Sandy Bridge CPUs both of those can be pretty much ignored. So I recommend this RAM set instead:
$85 - G.Skill Ripjaws F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL 2 x 4GB DDR3 1333 RAM

Thanks guys.

That R3 case looks great, but I prefer in black or titanium grey. For some reason they don't seem to be available :(

I think I'll go ahead on the Noctua NH-C14.

I'd like 16GB, but I sort of like the 6-8-6-24 CAS of the 8GB ripjaws.. I feel I could upgrade in the future should I really need 16GB. Although I understand the difference between 6-8-6-24 and 8-8-8-24 is probably next to none.?

Thanks for the suggest Motley, but that case is a little over the top for me :). I ended up buying the P183. The Define R3 looked pretty nice, but I couldn't find it in non-white.

The P183 is definitely a nice case, I had one before my Phantom. You don't notice any differences with the CAS timings unless you care about synthetic benchmarks.
