Checking price grabber it seems all the usual suspect online merchants haven't updated yet, and Apple has refurb 160s for MORE than what a new one goes for.

I'm actually looking to nab a couple of the new old stock 40s before they are gone if I can get them for under $150 or so, if anyone finds any deals on those as they get cleared out please post it.

Hmm might take a look at the apple tv now. Though I might just add that to my Christmas list.

Honestly if you are going to wait for Christmas you might wanna wait till January and see what comes out then. As posters on Engadget have noted this is a pretty obvious step towards a total revamp and a direct response to the availability of similar functionality on the 360...

For those of us with significant Apple media already on our boxes tho it finally puts the ATV into a price space where buying one wouldn't be a ridiculous prospect. I've got a bedroom TV that doesn't already have any kind of media front end for it and a cheap Apple TV would be a nice little box for it, but it's clear that the ATV isn't best of breed in this space...

I want one for boxee, but I want one more that could have 1080p ability.

I have a 40GB apple tv loaded with boxee, but I really keep hoping they will release a new version based on the ION platform to handle hi-def content better, the CPU in the current Apple TV is on the weak side.
