Price-wise: GTX560Ti 448core VS two lower models in SLI?

I just went from a 1680x1050 res to 1920x1080 and my GTX460SE just isn't cutting it at that res.

I've been looking at picking up the EVGA GTX 560 Ti 448core Classified edition for about $300.

My question to you guys is whether I'd be able to match or surpass that kind of performance by putting two lower-model GTX cards in SLI?

$300 is a strict limit for my budget, so would it be worth going for that 448 core card VS whatever the price of a decent SLI pairing would be, or is there maybe something newer around the corner from nVidia that's worth holding out for?

Games I play the most: SWTOR, BF3, Skyrim

For new Nvidia cards, the best you'll get at or under $150 is a 550Ti. The 560 starts at $190, and the 560Ti starts at $210.

Google around for 550 Ti SLI vs 560 Ti. Conclusion I drew from various reviews: get the 560 Ti 448. The 550 Ti SLI might outperform it sometimes, but the single card will be a lot less hassle.

The 560 Ti 448 is a limited run and will disappear relatively soon, so don't factor in "SLI the 560 Ti 448 later" idea.

There are so many conflicting rumors about the 600 line's release date that I have no advice there.

Thanks! That was helpful. I think I will be leaning toward a single 448 card after all.

I just bought the MSI Frozr iii power edition of this card for $249.99 after MIR and a $10 Amazon credit they promoted me. At $240-$260 price for very new and limited produced card this is a sweet spot for value and performance.

I almost got the Classified for around $300 only because it has full VGA water block options. The MSI twin Frozer iii doesn't have full water block options. I figure I just saved some money. I'm going to get a cheaper universal water block for it to tame core temps.

Just for the record, I picked up a GTX 560 Ti 448 core (the EVGA Classified model) and I'm not looking back! This thing FLIES!

I got the Galaxy version for $215 after $20 rebate from tiger a week ago. I love it.

Nice deal. Makes me wish I had an AMEX card for deals like that. Still happy with my 448. :)
