Problem trying to install Office2000 on XP

Just installed a new HD and I'm trying to install office2000, it stops about half way thru with
an error message asking if I have and can access the file windows\system32\MAPI.DLL

..I dont have that file, I do have windows\system32\mapi32.dll

am I supposed to install a copy of that file, or is there some way to get around this?

I'm a bit paranoid about tampering with my new XP install , would appreciate any help with this.

You should have mapi32.dll in your Windows\system32 folder, if not, copy and paste it from your WinXP install disk and put it in there. I have it in mine.
