Problems when installing Winxp Pro (free version)

Hi I've been having problems with my win xp pro installs for the last year they have been missing files during setup, this has been with more than one disk. My latest install misses a few files and when it finally gets installed the computer will not see a cd drive, I have changed out drives thinking this was a bad drive. I've also noticed the files that it misses are the ones it won't serch the cd drive for i can't even manually find it cause it won't see the drive. any ideas?

MCSE version? I had that happen to an older machine, and could not figure out what was wrong. Ended up installing Linux and using it as a media server...
 
Maybe that's why it doesn't work.

FYI, the rules of the forum state no discussion of illegal activity. So, no talk of piracy or downloading of pirated material.
