going to do this for a friend of mine.
new egg wish list link

whe want a damm good PC also HTPC so here is what i got.,

Drop the AIW and get a seperate video card and tuner.
1.) It's not supported in MCE.
2.) Better performance without having to worry about the intergrated tuner.
3.) Uh, the recording quality isn't very "good" anyways.

Get a 550 based tuner card, preferrably the PCIe Powercolor card.

very new to the HTPC idea will have a look for the above ideas concerning the AIW.
would like x1800 vivo at least
the guys TV supports HDTV through Component only
also will be hooked up to a dell 24" LCD. in another room via DVI
edit: pulled the AIW card added the powercolor 550 and an x1800GTO

Just so you know ATI's drivers for DVI out to an HDTV are considered "decent" at best, they're pretty basic and if you have any problems its frustrating to get it working 100% correctly since they don't really have any sort of tweaking options. Add to that the noise level of the stock cooler and how much heat they generate doesn't exactly make them the most HTPC friendly cards.

Currently if you're going DVI out then you should pickup an NV card, the 7600 GS makes for a very nice card.

will be using the component out for the HDTV.
no heavy gaming involved; at best Flight Sim 10 will need to run smooth

Is there some reason you need 2 gigs of RAM, a dual core processor, an X1800, and a $279 case for an HTPC?

Flight Sim 10 is just around the corner
this will have dual duty as a HTPC and a main system. one side of the wall will be a 62" samsung HDTV the other a 24"dell LCD for general pc use.
