PS3 HDMI Connection Problems....(Westinghouse 37w3)

Ok well its pretty weird. I think it is just the HDMI Cable I use but I want to make sure.

Well I went to wal-mart last night and I buy some cheap $30 HDMI cable. I hook it up to my PS3 and my Westinghouse TV. And for about 15-20 seconds the picture flashes black, picture, black, picture,...etc...every 2 or 3 seconds apart. If I unhook the cable from the TV and plug it back in. It works fine until I either start a game or I restart the console. Then it does it again for about another 15-20 seconds.

Think its just the cheap cable? Or do you Westinghouse 37'' owners have any kind of problem like this?
 
i thought it was posted on here somewhere that the ps3 has an issue with the HDMI 1.2 - HDMI 1.3 connection and backwards compatibility?

That was a problem with it not transmitting 1080i and instead falling back to some other resolution.

I believe there is a separate problem of HDMI handshake and communication that is unrelated.

You are the man. And a page earlier I found a "fix" for it. Hopefully when I get home and try it out it will work.

i tried that fix just now and IT WORKS! now all i need is for the wifi in the ps3 to start working correctly and im 100% set! (it turns off and on like ever 15-30 seconds so i just an ethernet cable)

It didn't work for me though :(
 
I've had the same problem. The solution that I found was holding down on the HDMI button on the remote control to the tv until the flickering stopped...not just pressing it, but actually holding the button down. After a couple of seconds it seems to sync up and no more flickering.
 
??? I dont see how that would help anything...But hell I will try it...anything at this point :p
