I was screwing around on my friend pc (Dell Inspiron 530) and I noticed that cpuz is showing a 1.6ghz 266x6 core speed. Shouldnt it be 2.4 266x9? Or is this normal for quad cores cpu?
Downclocked multiplier under no-load conditions. If you run something in the background and watch CPU-Z you'll see it go back to 2.4 (due to SpeedStep)
Laptops (especially dells) scale cpu speeds on the fly for temperature / battery / usage management. I have some newer inspirons at work, and I have seen them clock as low as 700 mhz from 2.0 ghz. I believe their desktops do the same stuff.
