 I'm currently running xp 32 bit with 4GB (2x2) RAM. I'm going to do a clean Vista/SP1 x64 install and have 8GB (4x2) RAM. I remember when Vista first came out recomended to install it with no more than 2GB RAM, then add the rest. Is this still recommended or is it OK to install with 4 or 8 GB?

I installed with 4, don't see why 8 would make any difference.

I also installed Home Premium 64 bit with 4 gb of ram with zero issues.

I install windows vista 64b with 8Gb without issues, the disk has SP1 on it

Thanks all - I'll go with 8GB - maybe it'll speed up the install by 30 secs...

I also installed both ulitmate 64 and home premium 64 bit with 8gb right off the bat and it was no problem

There were issues with certain motherboards when installing Vista x64 with more than 2GB RAM, but I believe those were pre-SP1.
