Quiet 80mm case fan

Vantec stealth is not a bad choice - got one, seems to push some air and be fairly quiet.

I've been getting Zalman's that come with a resistor to slow/quiet them down. The resistor plugs in-line between the fan and the motherboard/psu connector. This resistor can be used on other fans as the connection is the standard fan 3 pin. It is possible to use a Y-cable and slow down two fans with one of these, although in this scenario I recommend using the same brand/size/model of fans. They come in 80/92/120

Also, there is always the zalman fanmate, which can be used with any 3 pin fan to slow it down and make it quiet. I typically just mount it to the inside of the case and once I figure out where I want it, tape the dial down so it won't move and then I don't mess with it anymore.

I can attest to the Vantec Stealth. I have had 3 of them through 4 different setups, they push good air and are dead quiet. Of course the ones i have are 120's but im sure the 80's will be the same.

the coolermaster low speed fans are very decent and economical too.

i think for most fans, especially 80mm ones, you need to pay attention to rpm's as well as cfm becuase higher rpm = higher noise.

ideally a good quiet fan will have low rpms but high cfm, but that isnt easy to achieve so depending on teh amount of airflow you want, you may have to sacrifice some quiet.

I have a Vantec Stealth in the 80mm version. Solid fan and it pushes good air for how quiet it is. Pretty much the only noise coming from the fan is the sound of air moving....the motor/bearing noise is minimal. I really don't hear the motor at all. I'm using one for the top blowhole in my Lian Li PC-7 and it works like a charm....I've been very pleased with it.
