It seems there are no Socket 771 boards that support DDR3. Judging from the benchmarks I've seen, that seems to handicap the performance significantly, even making it lose to a qx9650 w/ DDR3. Does anyone know if they are planning to release a Socket 771 board with DDR3 support or a qx9775 in Socket 775? I'm looking to build a new system soon, and the most I can wait is about 2 months.

I think the problem is that they use FB-DIMMs, which are inherently slower?

Yes, that is correct, but also the error correction as well. For some reason Intel is marketing a server part to the gaming community??!?!?

If you take into account the socket changing from 775 to (name escapes me) this doesn't make to much sense. :(

you have all forgotten about SKELLETOR!!! wait, i mean Skulltrail.
