RAM Consumer

I'm looking for an application to consume a pre-defined amount of RAM from a Windows 7 machine. Whether this is a RAMdisk application or otherwise, I just need a method to tell an application to consume and hold a fixed amount of RAM. I want to avoid a significant penalty on other system resources (CPU cycles, etc.).

Free is preferred, paid software is fine. Command-line exposure would be a plus.

Any suggestions?

DataRam's RAMdisk is free (up to 4GB for a RAMdisk) and should be able to fill that requirement, I guess.

You can use RAMMap to verify the actual RAM usage of most anything loaded into RAM or using it, pretty much down to the exact byte count as well. Very useful tool...
