Formatting using the Windows 7 installer should be enough. I don't know if Intel has a wiper like tool, which is sort like a software TRIM, but if they do, you might want to run it a few times after you finished installing. It'll help keep your SSD up to top performance.

Yeah a wiper is what i was looking for. I can't seem to find anything on it. I just want to make sure I am at peak performance after my next reload. Sure wish Intel would have put TRIM on the G1. Oh well.
there's a wiper utility for Intel drives but it only works on Trim enabled drives (i.e. g2)

You don't NEED to, but I do to "reset" my G1s that don't have the benefit of TRIM.

Can I get away with using a bootable USB stick vs Floppy?
Sure? (never tried myself, I have a removable floppy for just such occasions 'cus I am lazy)

Thx, I have made bootable USB drives plenty of times. I was just making sure this wouldn't create any problems. I'd shit if I messed them up.

I used this the other evening when I reloaded my box to Win7. I had to delete the array and set the drives to IDE mode for the HDDERASE tool to see them and "wipe" them.
