Many years ago I built a few video editing systems for a client, based on the Matrox RT 2000 and 2500 cards. At the time I didn't know much about video editing, and realtime editing on the PC was still fairly new. Years later, after hearing feedback and personal experience, the Matrox RT cards were buggy, crashing POS's for day to day use in video departments.

Fortunately their negative experiences with this hardware, and Matrox, haven't deterred them from requesting new systems from me. They require realtime video editing with standard DV (not high def), use a few effects and titling and prefer (but are not insisting) to use Adobe Premiere. Their budget is under $2000 for the video editing hardware and software. One of the newer guys in this video department suggested the Matrox RT.X2 after reading about it on the net, but I'm hesitant with all the problems we've had in the past with the older generation Matrox cards.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
