Running OCCT and smal FFT's the temps of my Q9550 are running about 66-68* across all 4 cores. The cooler is an AC7. It is OC'ed to 3.7 at the stock voltage. Idle's @ 40*

Should I be concerned with the temps?

OCCT ran for 38 hours without hiccup in this config.

run intelburntest and see if you can get the cores closer to 80c. ill bring the marshmallows to toast.

Perfectly fine. The CPU can tolerate temperatures up to 100C without flinching (or incurring damage ;)). I fold 24/7 on my Q9550 which keeps it at around 70C constantly, and it's been running perfectly fine for nearly a year now.

75 on Intel Burn Test is actually quite impressive.Good temp, really.

In reality, the CPU could not be stressed as much as the IBT does, I sort of consider it the absolute temp upper threshold when stressing the CPU.

I was a little worried since RealTemp shows my new Q9550 idling at 41,*46,41, and 42. That's with a Xigmatek S1283 using the mounting bracket rather than the push pins.

Once I ran IBT, I felt better: 72, 75, 71,71 for the cores. As per much of what I've read, the idle temps are not nearly as accurate as the load temps. If I was seeing 90,95,90,90 - then I'd be concerned.

*Core#2 seems like the black sheep of the family ...

I got SO fed up with the stupid push pins that I went out and picked up an Xig 964 and the mounting bracket ACK-i7363. If I ever meet the clown that designed the push pin design I will split his/her damn lip.

Anyway, temps are now running around 71* for all four cores when running IBT.

You're temps are fine. As long as it is stable and not throttling you're doing just fine.

Mine idles in the high 30s and loads in the low 80s. But, I'm running better cooling with a more ambitious overclock and higher voltages so that makes perfect sense.
