It seems there are a bunch of them out there that support 3.5" SATA drives and have Gigabit ethernet but then have transfer speeds in the 10-20MB/s range which is like really slow USB 2.0 speed...even though they are on ethernet...
noisy fans...failures after less than a year, slow operating systems........but I need a dedicated device to sit in the entertainment center so a pc with a FreeNAS thing isnt an option
I have around a $100 budget for a JBOD/RAID NAS box (have my own hard drives already) to use with my popcorn hour for movies and also for local "cloud" storage for several wireless devices.
Any recommendation? Best I have found so far is a D-Link ShareCenter Pulse DNS-320 NAS server which seems to get decent reviews compared to the others.
