Hi

Would it be bad for my disks if I constantly recover a partition (from a backup image with Acronis True Image)? The image is about 1.4GB.

No. Hard drives tend to wear out in about the same time whether they're being used heavily or sitting still. Unless you've got power or cooling problems, in which case you're screwed anyways.

What are you doing this for?

Thanks to you both for great explanations!

I was afraid someone would ask :D . It's because I'm a Linux noob and in my process of try an error, I ended up having to reimage (is that the right word?) the partition.

One more thing: Is constant rebooting bad for the computer?

Heh. I did that, once. But I did it by reinstalling - at that point, I didn't have Ghost.

What are you trying to get done, and with what distro? I just did an install of Debian etch yesterday, and it took me an hour, most of which was spent reading a book. That could just be the experience effect, but I really like Debian ;)
