Hi all,

I want to use the S/pdif header on my mobo, as my receiver does not have optical in.

I found MANY sites on the web stating all I need is a donor RCA cable, and a connector from an old case. Both of which i have.

Simply put one pin to GROUND and body of RCA, and the other pin to OUT and center pin of RCA on the mobo header. Is it really that simple? The work I have no problem with, I just want to make sure I won't damage anything (unless I f up, of course) by doing this. Thanks!

Yes - you don't have to worry about anything else. SPDIF over coax literally is just digital data over a RCA cable. That output pin from mobo will work regardless of whether you hook it up to a RCA jack or a TOSLINK transceiver.

Thanks!
I tried it later the night I posted this, worked perfect!

Thanks! Now I have sound on the backup PC utilizing an old speaker set and HT sub I had laying around!

Sounds perfect.
