Samsung F4EG/HD204UI 2TB. "(B5) Program Fail Count" S.M.A.R.T Attribute?

No estool errors on any of my drives =)

program fail count shot up to 1.4 million

I just registered to post that one of my HD204UI's is at 20.9 million and the other is at 24.8 million, after 2755 hours on.

2755 hrs? That can't be right. Either the drive is putting out junk for stats or the tool is not reporting them right...

Wow, mybad. I was reading the spin up time.

Power on hours is actually 759 for this drive and 762 for the other.

I had been reading alot of this issue.

HD Tune Pro 4.60 released on 28th August 2010
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 HD204UI was on sale from 1st September 2010

Could it be the HDD is not compatible with HD Tune and the SMART values captured are not correct and the label to B5 might be wrong?

Old thread revival, but I just found this interesting post and although it relates to SSDs, it claims that the B5/181 "Program_Fail_Cnt_Total" SMART attribute - in a Crucial SSD - is an indication of 4K mapping (in)effectiveness, it's the number of unaligned reads and writes.

Could this also be true for Samsung Advanced Format HDDs as well? This would explain why some users have such rapidly increasing counts (unaligned data) without any obvious reliability problems.
