Sapphire 4850 Blue Breeze

still reference design for the board.......cooler dosen't look too much different

Same cooler, new cover. The blue PCB, and 1gb of vid ram is nice though.

Yeah, the cooler looks like the reference cooler with a different, larger cover. Doesn't look very good - chances are hot air will get trapped beneath that blue plastic behind the backplate.

It's interesting, but it seems like it would be more useful to make a 4870 with 1GB of RAM instead of a 4850.

Maybe GDDR5 memory is too scarce for that right now? The 4850 uses cheaper and more plentiful GDDR3 memory. Still, two 1GB 4850's in Crossfire should satisfy most of us ;)

If the rumours about a 2GB 4870X2 are true, there should be plenty of GDDR5 to go around (/crosses fingers).

it says "Featuring a blue PCB, 1GB GDDR3 and a new cooler" and "a totally new cooler, hope it won’t be worse than the reference cooler"

Just because a random website says it's a new cooler, I wouldn't believe it-- except for that ugly blue plastic (?) part, it looks identical to every other stock 4850 cooler.... down to the fins/"fingers" down by the ports...

The actual heatsink is clearly identical to stock, the only difference is the cover.

I agree, it's easy to tell that it's the stock cooler with a blue plastic cover that extends over the air exhaust duct.. which is stupid because it looks like it will trap the heat.
