Hi, is there any difference between Sata 3 and Sata 6 Hard Drives in terms of performance and speed? Thanks

Hard drives? Not so much.
SSDs? Much.

This.

HDDs are barely beyond the SATA-I standard, let alone SATA-II or III.

SSDs however can easily break the SATA-II barrier and will benefit from SATA-III.

The new generation of SSDs require SATA-III (6GB) to obtain their rated performance.

HDDs do not benefit.

There is no standard known as SATA 6. SATA 3.0 signals at 6Gbit/s, SATA 2.0 at 3Gbit/s and SATA 1.0 at 1.5Gbit/s. Sometimes they are referred to by their bitrates instead of version number so SATA 3 is sometimes called SATA 6Gbit/s.

It is incorrect to refer to something as "SATA 3.0". The specification is referred to as SATA Revision 3.0, or the transfer speed as SATA 6Gb/s

Q11: What is the proper way to refer to the upcoming SATA 6Gb/s technology?
A11: When referring to the specification, use “Serial ATA Revision 3.0 specification” for the
first reference. For successive references, this can be shortened to “SATA Revision 3.0.” Do
not use “SATA 3.0.”
