Okay... I have a Seagate 80GB (ST380013AS)

I installed Xp on an IDE Western 120GB and everything went fine. Next, I noticed that the Sata drive did not show up in 'my computer'. I downloaded Seagate's DiskWizard 2003 which is supposed to install the HDD. The odd thing is I can see the drive in the BIOS, but when I get back into Windows it still isn't there.

Does anyone have any ideas about what could be the problem?

Is it visible in Disk Management? If so, just format it and you should be cool.

I agree. Formating it makes the disk readable/writable in windows. Bare drives do not come formated because there are so many different file systems you can format it to.

it wasn't visible in the disk manager, but I forgot to instill the raid/ide drivers that came along with my motherboard. thanks for the help though guys!
