I have a Maxtor STM3500320AS SATA hard disk drive that I have been using for nearly two years. The drive just vanished from both Windows and BIOS. It spins up when the pc boots but is not detected. I tried switching cables, using both Seagate and Maxtor tools. Is there anything for me to try before trying the warranty.
For information on the hardware: Everest Report

If its not getting picked up in BIOS, its probably on its way out. You could try switching your PC's primary hard drive to a different SATA port to make sure that the ports on the mobo are working properly.

If that doesnt work time to RMA, hopefully your data was backed up. Or your looking at a ~500+ charge to get it back.

This is a known bug in the firmware of that drive. Google Seagate 7200.11 firmware for more info.

The other hard disk is failing too, giving crc errors and it isn't completing chkdsk always stuck at %44. It is a Samsung HD502IJ. Event viewer shows The device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR1, has a bad block.
