SB Xtreme Gamer does not work when onboard audio removed

I have an Asus P6T Deluxe with onboard Audiomax and have a Creative SB Xtreme Gamer installed also. I have speakers plugged into the Creative card and it only works when I have the onboard Audiomax enabled in bios and drivers installed for it. I have tried to remove the Audiomax drivers and disable the onboard in bios and everything loads fine, shows running fine in device manager, but I have no sound now. If I reinstall and enable the Soundmax, I get sound again, even though the speakers are plugged into the SB. Ideas? I really want to remove and disable the Soundmax.

Disregard...for some odd reason I had to disable then reenable the SB and it started working.
