Should i use my IP35 pro dac or Z-5500 dac?

Hey guys, I'm gonna need to make a monoprice order to move the living room to 5.1 from 2.1 and I thought to myself, maybe i should order an optical cable to connect the 5500's to my pc. Right now i'm using the regular analog cables. I looked up the codec on the IP35 pro, and its a realtek 888. Would it be worth a couple bucks to pick up another optical cable and use the 5500's dac instead of the motherboards? I know the 5500's aren't super high quality sound anyway, but I'd like to maximize what i've got :)
 
haha yeah after i posted I actually went and looked at monoprice. 2.10 for a regular 6 ft cable. If its not as good, I'll have a spare optical cable around. You can never have too many random spare cables :)
 
I have the exact same setup. I use a optical cable as it sounds better than using analog, a bit more clear. However I do use my headphones 95% of the time. When I used my speakers more it was analog for gaming, and optical for music/movies.
