I'm building a SFF rig for my dad and am concerned about whether or not the little 250W PSU in this Shuttle barebones can support what I plan to put in it. Here are the parts I'm looking at.

500gb 7200RPM HDD
IDE 22X DVD Burner
C2D e7200
8600GT
2 GB DDR2 800

I've seen some people claim to run an 8800GT and PSU calc shows me within its limits, but I thought I'd check here for a 3rd opinion just to be certain.

The shuttle PSUs are typically quite good even though they may seem rated at low watts. I've had 3 different shuttles myself and have never had power issues, although admittedly I've not used this particular model. You could ask in the forums over at sfftech.com...I'd bet someone over there will have had a similar setup.

that system won't pull much overall wattage. I'd be surprised if you get over 140W at stock.

An 8800GT with a QX9770 consumes around 200W at load, from the wall (about 160W from the PSU). So i'll join jrobdog in being surprised if it goes over 140W with the setup you're proposing.
