I am experiencing severe slowdowns that last for 10-15 seconds in BF2 that drop my framerate to 10-20 fps only on my ST20G5. By swapping hardware between my other systems - I can not duplicate the problem on my SN25P or my SLI PC.

I had a few other performance issues with the BIOS in the ST20G5 that I determined when first trying to run my 78000GTX with BF2. I was unable to resolve this final slowdown issue and chalked it up to some kind of throttling with the 7800GTX. After changing back to my X800XL I am still getting the unexplained slowdown!

NOTE: when the slowdon occurs, there is no indication of disk activity, which I had diagnosed previously as texture caching due to being low on memory, high settings etc.

Steps taken to isolate the issue:

1. Tried Z and U Bios
2. All video options set to medium (frame rate is typically 55-80fps)
2. Removed SB Audigy2 and set audio to software/medium
3. Tried different ram (1gb and 2gb)
4. Swapped 3700+ CPU for 3500+ (as Bios temp readings were high / incorrect)
5. Northbridge temp in BIOS was reporting up to 73C (rebooted after a long gaming session to check, could this be reporting the PSU temp by mistake?)
6. Swapped fans on Northbridge with fan on opposite side now, but it still gets up to 69C which I think is too high, not sure what the deal is as I reseated the H/S with new compound and the onboard video is off??????
7. Stopped all unecessary backround processes and services.
8. uninstalled/ deleted and re-installed BF2 without patch.
