I'm having trouble with one of my PCs. One is a Vista 64 box with an 8800GTX, and it can play a fullscreen game while watching a video on a second monitor without any trouble. The other is an XP32 machine with a 9600GT and it can't. When the game is running, the video window on the other monitor goes black (but the sound continues). If you alt-tab out of the game, the video shows up again, but goes black if the fullscreen game is resumed. Both machines are running the latest nvidia drivers.

Is anyone familiar with this problem?

What video player are you using? I've found that at least with Vista's Windows Media Center, it cannot be in full-screen mode for a video to play on the second monitor while a full-screen app is running on the first.

However you can "fake" it and have the video take up the whole screen while not actually using full-screen mode.

Or a script I wrote here: http://www.autohotkey.com/forum/topic37580.html

Other video players as well as different rendering modes (overlay vs. VMR for example) might have different results...

Try disabling the overlay for video playback.
