I just built my new SFF PC (Core i7 2.6, asus rampage Gene II, 6 gig ram, XFX 5850gpu, Win7 64bit.) and so far everything else runs fine. I can't get this DVD drive to be recognized. I cant even get it to open the drive door. I have swapped the SATA cables to different ports, reversed the hookup order with the adapter and nothing works. Could this be a power problem? Driver issue? I have a Corsair 850w modular PSU and the only other thing connected to the molex that the adapter cable plugs into is my swiftech pump for watercooling. I've been using my USB DVD drive for the time being but I'd really like to get this fixed. A full size DVD drive is not an option because I went with SFF watercooling in a Lian-Li v351b case (yes it is possible, I'm typing this post from it now running quiet and very cool!) Thanks for the help.

edit: I think I have the wrong cable. Gonna have to order it. Ignore this thread then. Sorry.

Why are you using the adapter cable at all? I Would think that you would use just the a regular SATA cable & the sata power from the PSU, especially when its a modular PSU
