Both brands aren't exactly mainstream and Galaxy is sold mainly in China.

palit does put out some interesting cards, not always the best or smartest but they do a lot of modified cards. I would not write them off completely.

I have a Galaxy 8800GT and it is actually better than my Asus 8800GT because it has a heatpipe cooler.
Both perform the same and both are trouble free. Galaxy was cheaper though.

quiet as hell and cools pretty nice. 40-50C idle 55-65C load.
