I had a few days off before I had to start school again and I had been wanting to play fear 2 ever since it came out but never got the chance. So i got the game and played all weekend and just finished. I enjoyed it mostly and sometimes I did get a little spooked but it wasn't from alma or the screen going red. After the 50th time the screen went red it just got silly and I started to wonder when it would be over. The only time I actually had a little "fear" was when an enemy AI would come outta nowhere and attack me. Or if I turned around a corner and got attacked outta no where.
However, there were a few things I didn't like. It just seemed like every map looked exactly like the other and things just got so damn repetitive. It seemed like 90% of the game was go into this dark hall, turn on your flashlight walk, walk, walk, than walk some more, kill 2 AI's, see alma, push her off you, talk to your team, shoot kill, shoot kill, repeat. The funniest part of the game for me was when you were able to enter the large robot and basically destroy everyone with it.
The ending was probably one of the WORST endings in my entire life. Seriously WTF was that? After you spend say 20 hrs on a game ( I like to explore and take my time), I'd like to get some sort of reward. A good ending which sums up everything usually makes up that reward. But this was just utter trash. I'm strapped in and touch alma's stomach (I'm guessing that's suppose to "my" child?). That was so cheap, and just screamed that the developers want to try to keep you hooked so when the sequel comes out you'll dish out more money. Overall I give the game C-, it didn't really leave me wanting more like HL or Crysis did.
