Many people are having problems with periodic image scramble watching the new Star Wars blu-ray release in Arcsoft Total Media Theatre 3 or 5 under Windows 7, The fix for now is to remove Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2657680).

Removing that update and rebooting allowed me to watch all of Empire Strikes Back with no corruption whatsoever.

Hopefully Arcsoft or Microsoft will address this issue soon, so that I don't have to uninstall this patch before, then reinstall it after, the next time I want to watch any of these discs on my PC.

The discs are bloody amazing, btw.

Let me know if you find this fix useful.

Sounds like a problem with Total Media Theatre tbh. I demux them off the disc and remuxed them into MKV files and they play fine in MPC..

The problem is with the DRM on the discs. All software players are having issues with it.

I watched A New Hope not long after the blu-ray release. I don't recall if I used my PS3 or my HTPC with TMT5. I do remember I had no issues playing it.
