So I'm planning on picking up a nice sound card for my next comp build, either an X-fi Titanium HD or a Xonar Essence STX. I'm putting a super high priority on 2 channel headphone listening, so I decided on getting something that wasn't going to spit electronic noise at me constantly. I also use my computer to watch blurays and occasionally game on the projector/home theater setup from time to time.
So my question, in a setup with one of the above sound cards (for headphone sound quality) and an hdmi connecting the home theater setup via the vid card (GTX 580), can I still output lossless audio from blurays as well as 5.1/7.1 game sounds over the HDMI connection, even though the sound card doesn't mention supporting it?
