I've been thinking it over for months now about getting a dedicated sound card and not use the on board sound on my motherboard. Right now i have a 5.1 system connected to the sound output via Fiber. My budget for a sound card / receiver is ~200.
Question on the Receiver , they are generally better quality right? but how do you set it up. if you plugging it in to the computer than aren't you using the onboard sound card than it goes into the receiver and gets recoded again there?
I manly play video games and listen to Rock / Punk , and some RNB , specially when playing MMO's.
I'm also looking at getting a good pair of headphones later next year if anyone could recommend me any, price range on those could go up to ~250.
