I have a shuttle XPC and the volume on it highers by itself. I have the volume set to low, but the sound will just get higher and higher (without the volume adjuster getting any higher) when I am listening to music. Sometimes it gets lower but most of the time it just gets higher.

To correct it, I have to lower the sound on the physical speaker all the way down then turn it back up or else it will just keep geting higher. This has been going on for a while now, even after formatting.

The card is stock from the SN95G5.

I hope I am making sense. Let me know if I should clear anything up.

TIA,

I have the exact same problem. I discovered its not your sound card but your speakers. Trying plugging in a different set (or headphones for that matter) and checking to see if they do the same thing. When testing don't use any part of your old speaker hardware, so don't just plug your headphones into your remote (if you have one).

Oh and theres an easy fix for this, buy some new speakers. Sorry to say it but once they start doing this they are shot.
