Hi all,
It's been almost two years since my last build and here's what I want to do:
I'm building an extreme gaming rig, but it has to serve another role. I need to store about 80 Gb of MP3s and an ever increasing photography library that's now 100 Gb and will increase by at least 100 Gb a year.
The MP3s stream over the wireless network in the house so it has to be fast, and I want stable/reliable storage for our photography library to complement the DVDs/Seagate external drive I use for backups.
Should I build a dedicated server? Is a large RAID 5 array the way to go? I'll probably build this around a dual-core AMD, 2 Gb RAM, and nVIDIA SLI solution. Thanks for the input. I'm only just getting started planning this but would love to hear from you experts.
