Street Fighter IV PC

Not every game needs to be grungy and realistic-looking. Street Fighter has always had the cartoonish kinds of graphics and art style. Those renders look cool, though. I'd definitely play a beefed-up SF game as long as they could avoid a repeat of SF The Movie, heh.

The game was developed to run on a 2GHz dual-core CPU with a 7-series nvidia GPU, those are the specs of the arcade machine (an actual WINXP PC).

Played SF4 on the PC and was kind of let down by graphics. They models were pretty good but did they really have to use low res textures? When i did the benchmark, it says something like 150/512MB on the graphics.

If it really was made for the PC, it would look something like this.

I think this really is possible, since you don't have to focus so much on a huge level, all that detail can be put on just the character models.

of course its possible. in no way should that be what the game looks like though. it would be fucking disturbing. could you imagine, sweaty man-porn guille grabbing-butt with blanka, the spawn of toxic waste gorillas and a stacked claudia schiffer? dude, no THANKS.

I think street fighter was horrible and I imagine it will be even worse on pc.They only made this game to try to make a shit load of money off of it.Street fighter is dead and gone.It was great during it's prime but it is old news now.
Lets make a new side scrolling mario game

As i've said, that was the potential for the PC version but i till prefer the cartoonish style. But the least they could do was use high res textures on the PC version.
Pretty much a requirement that separates consoles from PC. Shaders simply don't mesh well with pixelation.

There have been arguments in other PC games where they say something like "It's not like players pause the game just to look at it".
The thing is, SFIV DOES pause the game and zoom in close enough to see the pores on their faces as part of the gameplay.

Keep in mind that the textures are optimized for a 720p display. This game isn't about pushing the envelope on the bleeding edge. It's about keeping the playability at a constant speed with a good amount of eye candy.

I would say that this is correct and in terms of online stability might be a reason they didn't included hi-res textures for the PC for fear of clogging systems that couldn't handle it. More than likely however they just didn't do it because they were lazy.

its a good game. it works with the xbox 360 controller natively, it runs perfectly, and has excellent sound (good for surround). im terrible at these games, but i might play this one a bit. i need to learn some moves though, you cant just button mash it doesnt get you far

Is this out on PC yet? If not I wonder if it is gonna be a shitty port

Just an example of how far they can go for the PC. I still prefer the cartoonish look. But i'm really put off by the heavy pixelation on the closeups (The game does a LOT of closeups).

The whole game only takes up 150MB of video ram. How much ram does the average PC gaming card have these days?

Average video card? I'd say 500MB or over. I'd call an 8800GT average though. A lot of people have less.

This is probably one of the best "ports" ive played in a while...

awesome game. street fighter is one of the only games that actually gets a rise out of me when i lose... its just so competitive when you play someone at your skill level.

I just watched a videon it with a i7 rig and 8800gt sli.
The video showed the game running very smooth,it looked better then on a console for sure.

I dont like the cartoonish look nor do I think SF should of made a comeback. This is just my opinion tho. There really isn;t any good fighting games and that is a big problem for the ppl who like them.

SFIV is not a comeback for the franchise. The series has always been the defacto standard for its audience. To the non hardcore people it will look like a moneygrab for Capcom, it isn't. I do admit that SFIII, CvS, and KoF are still better games. SFIV does pretty well for itself.

There are plenty of fighting games that get released, just not for the PC.

There are plenty of fighting games that get released and most of them suck.I like the old school street fighter games.I guess I am just too stuck on the old school version to enjoy the new one.

I dont like the way it went tho in terms of cartoonish graphics.the combos are sick from what I've seen

why are cartoonish graphics a problem? all the cutscenes are anime! that whole game is done like a 3d japanese anime film....with real anime cutscenes. i think its fantastic.

Complete arcade with any character, getting 2 perfects and 3 ultra finishers, no continues. You'll meet Gouken, defeat him and he's unlocked.

Go figure, it seems I did too many ultras and perfects.

I finally unlocked it. Gouken is completely different from ken/ryu/akuma, for starters, there is no shoryuken, its fireballs can be charged and medium and fierce versions travel diagonal.

I'm not sure I like him, for me akuma is better overall.

Goddamn this game is hard. Played it all weekend and my thumb is going numb :p

This is a 'port' in a good way, from the arcade but with actual PC support. Not a crappy port where the PC version seems like an afterthought.

Game looks great, gameplay has a lot of depth and ridiculous amounts of skill needed. Multiplayer is brutal and seems to be busy. It has a matchmaking system but I was playing arcade mode; couldnt even start a single-player match. Its like at the arcades, someone can come up and put in a quarter to challenge you while you are fighting the AI...well that was happening so fast I never fought an actual computer.

I was trying to learn Dhalsim so I watched some youtube vids of old japanese sf4 tournaments...holy crap they are good.

um wtf are you rambling on about? Street Fighter is a great game that the millions of people that bought it care about and enjoy. So what if they made it to make a profit I thought that's what companies did.

Seriously its like saying that Starcraft is dead and gone and Starcraft 2 is a money grab...even though its basically a national sport in Korea. SF is the same way, alive and well. This game came out July '08 and has been very active (just look on youtube at the championships). Its not like the new Ghostbusters game just trying to grab money from an old name.

Dont quote me on this because I may very well have got this from a bad source, but from what I've read the arcade machines are Windows based. So, the PC version should not be considered a port. The arcade games were out long before the console versions.

I'd say the only reason it took so long to come out on PC is compatibility issues. It makes sense that the arcade came first, then consoles, then PC.

Lots of people hating on SFIV in here. There are a few good articles out there that explain really well why they went in the direction they did. Those that dont like they new game can stick to the old ones, but dont complain that they didnt stay in 1993 with the graphics and gameplay.

People who complain can just stop playing. Nostalgia goggles ftl.

QFT. I cant imagine thinking to myself "WTF, wheres the 20fps and the standard def sprites?! Bring back the 8bit soundtrack!!!" I dont know what people expected the game to look like.

I can understand gameplay complaints, like the shortcuts and the ultras though.

My only beef is the music. I really miss Guile/Ken's theme... the only time you can hear the old music is during the rival fights :(

Check out the blood on the asphalt remixes on OCremix. I'm not into that type of music, but it brings back good memories. I wish there were more of those tunes in sf4, maybe i"ll find a way to put them in :p

here is a link http://sf2.ocremix.org/

Listening to these tunes again makes me want to put these in the game, I'm gonna see if there is a way, these tunes are so much better haha

Anybody interested in helping me try to figure out how to change the music? I figured out the music is in Street Fighter 4/Battle/System in CSB files. Somehow you neex to extract axx files and recompile them in the CSB or what ever. Anybody have any ideas?

Argh! Still waiting to receive mine. Amazon says it will be delivered today, but as usual the USPS site really doesn't say anything. The last update was that the package arrived in town this morning at 7:28AM. That usually means that it will go out with the mail the same day right?

Those are pretty cool, I think I still like the originals better just for the nostalgia tho :)

Check these vids out, guess people are modding SF4 already lol

No need to reinvent the wheel, turn in-game music volume off and then play what ever you want to listen to via windows media player.

Finally got this yesterday and the game is absolutely superb. It«s everything that I expected from a Street Fighter game, plus the amazing graphics and combos too (last SF I had played was Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo). I even like the soundtrack, which in a fighting game, usually isn't something I pay any attention to.

The only complaint I have, is the fact that the second player can't join in with the keyboard. That is almost unforgiveable, but since the game is so good, I can try and forget that one...

Also, I don't think it ever happened in a fighting game (or at least I don't know if it did), but it would be great it they released new characters from previous games, as add-ons. I remember T-Hawk for example, from SSF2T. Hopefully the game is popular enough for them to consider such possibility. I did my part :)

I'm hoping they bring back some of the classic stages as well. Guile's AFB stage is still one of my favorites.

Capcom has stated that if there is enough interested, they'll add in T-Hawk and Deejay etc. But you'd probably have to pay for them as DLC.

I don't mind that as long as the content is worth while and it's priced correctly. It seems that those alternate costumes for SF4 characters are bought, but I'm not sure they are worth anything. They're practically useless content.

I was just going to ask about the costumes. Is there any way for PC users to get them at this time? I know that they're already on the disc.
