Hi I just ran a stress test for my new DFI LP LT x38 with a Q6600 air cooled.

View Temps Screen Shot:

CPU: 48 - 52 on load
core 0: 59
core 1: 49
core 2: 49
core 3: 56

System: 49-52
Chipset 47-52

My ambient temp is around 27* (dam landlord won't turn off the radiator)

Running a multiplier of 9x333.
Is there a better multiplier I should try to get better temps?
I'm a noob to this and would like to push the CPU to 3.2 for 24/7 use. I'm also assuming that I can lower the above temps once I figure out a good cpu multiplier.

id say 400x8 but can you push that ram to 1200MHz thats the question...

or you could go +450x7 and have the ram at 900MHz.. theres a lot of things to try but you can definately get that FSB higher...

see if you can do 450x7 on that board... ram @ 900MHz

OK I'll give that a shot. I can easily get this ram at 900mhz its spec is 1066mhz.
So its better to have a faster FSB and a lower multiplier?

Thanks for the help.

A lot of the time... the memory multiplier at 2:1 is a big one too... i feel in terms of performance.. hence why i would be trying to push the FSB to match your 1066MHz ram... ideally... i'd want to be running it at an even higher fsb.. but i dunno how much more the x38 could hack...

but thinking quad-core maybe a more elaborate HSF with heatpipes and whatnot. four cores add up in heat.... are you using stock intel cooler?

I'm using a ZALMAN 9700 for my cpu. the mobo comes with a nice NB cooler.

I also have 4 120mm fans and a 80mm in the case.

UPDATE:
I have been looking at multipliers online and most seem to be using 9x333 for 3ghz I'm assuming that steping to 3.2 will be on the 0 multiplier. Seems that my ram is over kill of q6600.

doesn't mean you cant up the fsb and lower the multiplier ;) ur running x38... they're probably on inferior chipsets...
