Current setup..

-Sony Receiver connected via analog 5.1 to X-FI sound card..
-All wires are properly connected to front, center, rear, and sub..
-All speakers work fine..even the sub works when I do a test under creative speaker setup...so it is connected properly..
-All speakers (including sub) work fine when music is played through CD player (not computer cd drive but standalone cd player connected via RCA to receiver)

the problem is...when i play a music or video...sub doesn't work at all.. i thinking the problem has to do with software and the source...any idea?

do your sound properties still say "5.1"?

yes.

as i said, under creative's setting, there is sound mixer with an option to choose speaker channels.

when i choose 5.1, an appropriate diagram shows up. if i click sub-woofer there, sub works fine.

i thought sub is always suppose to work when it is under 5.1 setting..

to give you a better idea..

here's my audio setting...

when i click subwoofer there..it works fine..which means the wiring is done properly..

whenever i play audio, video, or game...it won't work...

anyone got a slightest idea on what's wrong with it?

is it creative's beta drive? vista? what?

hardware wise it should be all green right?

prob both beta drivers and vista, id suggest going back to xp and reg drivers if u want sound to work properly, if that doesnt help then i dunno
