I am selling my PC2700 and getting PC3200, I have an XP3200+ w/400mhzFSB and was wondering if there is any special procedure to run in sync with the memory or if it will auto detect on startup. It's a compaq with a KM400a motherboard.

it should auto-detect on setup, u may still want to go in the bios and check though.

Thanks, I figured it would check. I bought the 2.2ghz XP3200+ over the 2.16ghz XP3000+ for 20-30$ more and they both come with PC2700, I didn't think Compaq was so deceitful to use 333mhz ram on both. Oh well I know now, last time I buy a prebuilt.

In bios it is listin it as PC2700, But Sandra Soft is listing it as PC3200. My bios are 3.04 on KM400A, it is suppose to support 400mhz FSB? And on the memory benchmarks from 1Meg-on (when it starts accessing the ram) the Megs/Second rate drops to 880-885. I believe this is about the same rate as before the pc3200 was added.

u can seriously check that though, it might be that it doesn't support, but i highly doubt it. your running just pc3200 right?

Yeah I'm running just PC3200, I hope this board does support 400mhz FSB otherwise Compaq is Cheating everyone who buys an XP3200+, which actually they already are by shipping 333mhz ram to begin with. But I upgraded my Bios to 3.11, which is the latest drivers on Compaq's site and it didn't do anything. Still can't adjust the memory in Bios, still detects it as PC2700.
