I have an N270 in a Lenovo S10 an I'm wondering which application gives the correct CPU temp.

Real Temp says 37º C
Hardware Monitor says 52º C
Core Temp says 72º C

Any ideas?

What version of realtemp you have? Touch that heatsink and see if you can keep your hand there for a while :)

Going with the higher one, you can attempt to create a safer environment for your Processor.

or shat your pants.

The temp of the Atom in my Dell Mini 9 which is fanless reads about 42 C idle and around 54 C under load. Maybe this will help.

The N270 has a TDP of 2.5W, so I highly doubt it's running at 72C. I'd say the temperature reported by Real Temp is probably the right one.

Yeah 72 C is ridiculously high for an Atom. The mechanics of that are probably pretty damn near impossible...

Nothing impossible about it. Ever try sticking a Little Falls 2 in a case with no fans? That northbridge heats everything else up so bad you cannot touch the heatsink without it causing pain.
