djBon2112, have you got some more info on your set-up? As it sounds quite cool and makes a lot of sense... could be useful to know when i come round to setting up my new Server...I've got an update on mine (pics to come when I get home tonight!)
Chaos-200
Intel Xeon E5320 1.86GHz
Supermicro X7DCL-i (only running one processor right now since I don't need all that power )
2GB DDR2-667 ECC Registered
Dell Perc 5/i -> 5x Samsung F1 750GB RAID 5 (~2.7 TiB)
2U rackmount
The thing runs Debian Etch x64 (ProxMox VM), and the individual server elements are virtualized using KVM. Server elements (as of right now) are Chronos-201 (fileserver, the only VM with access to the RAID, Ubuntu Server 8.04 x64), Aether-202 (MySQL databases, Ubuntu Server 8.04 x64), Nyx-203 (download/uTorrent, Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 since I couldn't get WINE working in Ubuntu when virtualized), and Gaia-204 (testing stuff out, runs any number of OSes).
I love how I did this since it means I can screw around with server OSes in the VMs and as long as I don't kill the base system or the first VM, I never stop listening to my music Since the fileserver VM is the only one with access to the RAID, I don't have to worry about there being a performance penalty there (the download server writes to it over ethernet), and since I can't even reach GbE limits anyways (the laptop I access everything from is only 100mbit), that also isn't a problem, though I always have the option of teaming the 2 GbE ports on the motherboard if I need that power. I can stream 720p off it no sweat, and I can't play 1080p on my laptop anyways so that doesn't matter
Well, mine is basically all done, so time to post in here. Worklog can be found here.
12x 1TB Seagate ES.2's on an ARC-1261ML. RAID level in the screenshot is 0 but I'm in the process of switching it to 6.
Advertised Space: 12TB
Formatted Space: 11.2TB
holy FUCK, 12TB RAID-0...I thought I was nuts! Good thing your switching to 6...that ought to take...well...forever.
Why the dual power supplies? You only need one of them.
Server Accessoires from YeongYang...pherson, what drive bays are those?

I like it alot. I may do something similar. I would love to get most of my drives off my primary system.Wow that looks nice.
Here is my initial bench setup of Windows Home Server \ HTPC.
I am hoping to run MediaPortal besides WHS on this setup so that I only have one system running 24\7.
So far I am happy with the power it uses. 70W idle, 80W with disc 2 disc copy.
